Archery is one of the safest sports, with a reported injury rate of less than one incident per 1,000 participants in 2004. Other activities like golf and fishing have an injury rate of up to 1.5 to 2 times the rate of archery. Sports like soccer, baseball, and basketball have injury rates 15 to 25 times higher than archery.
– USA Archery
Archery maintains its high safety level through the proper training and certification of archery instructors. Our classes are taught by a USA Archery NTS certified instructor, and adhere to the safety guidelines of USA Archery Instructor Training program, the official training courses of the National Archery Association (NAA). The NAA is affiliated with the Federation of International Target Archery (FITA), which is the international governing body for Olympic style archery competitions. The NAA promotes Olympic style archery. However, our instructor also teaches traditional archers, recreational archers, and bow hunters in addition to target archers.
Archery is safe, fun, and easy to learn. It is a discipline suitable for all ages and abilities. Programs are structured to teach Olympic-target archery to students 9 years old and above. Exceptions can be made for younger archers at the discretion of our archery instructor, but they must own their own equipment that is properly sized and weighted. This is a lifetime sport, suitable for the entire family, and appropriate for archers of any level!
All necessary equipment is provided, but students are encouraged to bring their own equipment, after the introductory session. The various programs offered help students learn the skills needed for tournament competitions or just shooting archery for the fun of it.
Benefits of Archery:
Focus – Concentration – Goals
Students learn that they must overcome distractions and obstacles, and have a plan of action. Archery provides fundamental relaxation qualities. The archer must be focused on the shot process and the overall outcome of that process. Archery is a self-challenging and rewarding activity that can help archers succeed as individuals or as part of a team, and helps our students to succeed in multiple aspects of their everyday lives.
