This introductory course into shotguns will begin with a review of firearms safety and the fundamentals of shooting. It will progress from there to include instruction on shotgun patterns using different ammunition, use of cover, and other skills. Individuals will practice these basic skills to improve abilities to effectively engage targets under a variety of conditions. It is intended for students unfamiliar with shotgun procedures, or those who need to develop a solid foundation of shooting skills with a shotgun and will quickly gain experience and confidence while increasing their overall skill level with their shotgun.

4 hours total

Registration fee $125

Fee is due upon registration.

Fee includes training and range time.

Firearm rentals are not included in above fee but are available.

You must be 18 years of age or older to register for this course.

2 hours of classroom and 2 hours of range training include:

  • SHOTGUN SAFETY & HANDLING
  • CHARACTERISTICS & ACCESSORIES
  • CARRYING TECHNIQUES
  • PATTERNING & AMMUNITION TYPES
  • SLUG SIGHT-IN
  • AMMUNITION CHANGE-OVER
  • SHOOTING MOVING TARGETS

*This class requires your own or rented firearm, sling, wrap around eye protection, ear protection, and a firearms cleaning kit for use in cleaning shotguns.

AMMUNITION REQUIREMENTS:

50 rounds of slug

*Please be sure to wear comfortable clothing on the range that will provide protection from recoil and ejected shells.

All shotguns should be brought to the range unloaded and encased.

All firearms are subject to a safety inspection prior to live fire exercises.

Classes and space are limited to 10 students per class, so register early!
